Purpose and Responsibilities

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for developing designs for products and product components, as well as for creating and updating models, drawings and documentation. Each engineer’s position will include a combination of some of the following duties as assigned.

Job Duties

  • Creation and refinement of mechanical part and assembly drawings.
  • Create documentation to help convey the key aspects of a design to a client or manufacturing partner.
  • Create and maintain a Bill of Materials for products.
  • Create/control/maintain the release packages and design history files.
  • Recommend improvements to the current design of products.
  • Produce details of specifications and outline designs for products.
  • Recommend modifications following prototype test results.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of new technologies, methods, tools and systems.
  • Other duties as required


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Years of relevant work experience.
  • Skilled in use of design software, including Inventor.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team.

Working Conditions

  • Limited light physical effort
  • Constant visual effort required for concentrated reading of documentation or close monitoring of computer monitors
  • Constant need for manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Long periods spent sitting
  • Occasionally deals with simultaneous multiple demands which must be attended to immediately
  • Regular work requiring attention to detail, subject to frequent interruptions that require immediate attention
  • Occasional peak periods requiring an accelerated work pace over which there is little control
